In 1993, after many years of direct support for BMW racing teams, Racing Dynamics entered the arena of Touring Car competition and fielded a team of two BMW 318i in the Italian CIVT. The team name was Racing Dynamics Sports, and the green 3 series race cars won the Italian Privateers Cup giving Racing Dynamics Sports immediate recognition. In 1997, Racing Dynamics SpA terminated its association with its US importer Electrodyne, Inc. and its affiliate Racing Dynamics Inc. The dispute arose over parts manufactured by Electrodyne without permission from Racing Dynamics SpA. As a result, the contract was terminated, but Electrodyne refused to return the Racing Dynamics trademark registration to Racing Dynamics SpA. As a result, in 1997 Racing Dynamics SpA appointed its fully owned subsidiary, RADIUS Advanced Automotive Technologies, Inc., as the US importer for Racing Dynamics genuine products. The agreement called for RADIUS to set up a complete distribution network to make the genuine Racing Dynamics SpA products available to its US based customers. The name chosen for the new venture, RDSport, is a tribute to the original Racing Dynamics Sports team and, more important, a loud and clear message to our loyal US customers that the efforts fielded by RADIUS are the efforts of Racing Dynamics SpA. To strengthen this relationship, Federico L. Pavoncelli, founder and chairman of Racing Dynamics (a/k/a/ Mr. Racing Dynamics), relocated to California in order to closely monitor all aspects of RDSports' operations.
